A rally and assembly were held on Friday, at 3pm in front of the National Museum in Shahbagh to commemorate the 48th death anniversary of Maulana Abdul Hamid Khan Bhasani.
The event was organized by the Central Executive Committee of Ganosamhati Andolon.
Executive Coordinator Abul Hasan Rubel highlighted Maulana Bhashani’s unparalleled contributions to the politics of Assam and the subcontinent.
He noted Bhashani’s role in empowering marginalized communities, especially farmers, and advancing a pro-people political movement.
From his involvement in the anti-British movement to leading the Farakka March against exploitation, Bhasani consistently shaped the direction of political struggles throughout his life.
Zonayed Saki, chief coordinator of Ganosamhati Andolon, emphasized that Maulana Bhashani viewed people’s uprisings as the most effective means of achieving their demands.
Referring to the July-August uprising, he said that the future must align with Bhasani’s vision—ensuring political, economic, and social rights for all, regardless of class, creed, gender, or ethnicity.
He called for unity to safeguard national sovereignty and establish a new political framework.
