The boarding bridge at Hazrat Shahjalal International Airport in Dhaka suddenly descended, breaking the door of a Kuwait Airways plane early on Tuesday.
No casualties were reported in the incident.
According to airport sources, Kuwait Airways flight KU-283, a Boeing 777-300 aircraft, landed in Dhaka from Kuwait with passengers at around 1:30am.
The door broke shortly after the passengers had disembarked.
At the time of the door collapse, only the pilot and cabin crew were inside the aircraft.
The captain, Kuwaiti national Azbali Mohammad, and his crew remained unharmed.
The plane was scheduled to depart Dhaka for Kuwait with 284 passengers at 2:45am.
Kuwait Airways sources said that due to the damage, the Kuwait-bound passengers had been accommodated in hotels, adding that another Kuwait Airways flight would arrive in Dhaka to transport them.
Passengers with connecting flights from Kuwait would be provided free transport to their respective destinations, they added.
