Md Rahmat, 13, who was critically injured in crossfire at Mohammadpur's Geneva Camp, died while receiving treatment in the ICU of Dhaka Medical College Hospital (DMCH) on Monday morning.

Inspector Md Faruk, in-charge of police camp at DMCH, confirmed the teenager's death, noting that his body had been sent to the hospital morgue for autopsy.

The incident occurred on Saturday around 5:30pm when a clash over territory escalated into gunfire between two groups within Geneva Camp.

Three individuals, including Rahmat, were hit. They were initially treated at Shaheed Suhrawardy Medical College Hospital before Rahmat and another injured person were transferred to DMCH as their condition worsened.

Mohammad Murad, Rahmat’s elder brother, recounted that the teenager had stepped out to fetch water when he was caught in the crossfire. Rahmat sustained gunshot wounds to his chest, right arm, and abdomen.

According to hospital sources, an X-ray revealed metal fragments in Rahmat’s body.

Rahmat, the youngest of three siblings, lived in Geneva Camp with his family. His father, Md Shamser, works at a local salon.
