A Dhaka court on Saturday placed former state minister for Industries and ex-MP of Dhaka-15 Kamal Ahmed Mojumder on a three-day remand in connection with the murder of Ikramul Haque during the Anti-Discrimination Student Movement in the capital's Shah Ali area.
On Saturday, Kamal Mojumder was presented before the Chief Metropolitan Magistrate's Court in Dhaka.
The investigating officer, Sub-Inspector (SI) Harun-or-Rashid of Kafrul Police Station, requested a seven-day remand for proper investigation.
Mojumder's defense lawyer appealed for bail, but after hearing both sides, Metropolitan Magistrate Ali Haider granted a three-day remand.
He was arrested by Kafrul police on Friday night from Gulshan in the capital.
Ikramul Haque was injured by gunfire in front of the Hazrat Shah Ali (R.A.) shrine in Mirpur-10 during the Anti-Discrimination Student Movement on August 4.
He was taken to the Combined Military Hospital (CMH), where he passed away on August 14.
