After his mother and father, three-year-old Bayezid also succumbed to his injuries from an explosion at a house in the capital’s Shukrabad.
He died while undergoing treatment around 9:30pm at Sheikh Hasina National Institute of Burn and Plastic Surgery.
Confirming the matter, Dr Md Tariqul Islam, a resident surgeon at the burn institute, said that 45% of the child's body had been severely burned.
Earlier, Bayezid’s father, Md Toton Mia, 35, died on Tuesday night, followed by his mother, Nipa Begum, 30, on Wednesday night.
The incident occurred in the early hours of September 28, around 3:30am, when a gas leak caused a fire in their home, severely burning all three members of the family.
Toton’s brother-in-law, Nazrul Islam, and uncle Zakir Hossain, who brought them to the hospital, reported a gas leak in the house for several days. The fire erupted when a match was struck, spreading quickly and engulfing the room.
Nazrul added that a similar fire incident had occurred in the same house about a year ago.
