A man died in Dhaka's Savar on suspicion of being a dacoit.
The deceased is Mojibur, 50, of Dhushorgram in Uthuli police station of Manikganj district. He lived in Arapara area of Savar municipal area.
The incident took place at the Rajalakh farm area of Savar municipality on Tuesday morning.
Besides, three more people were detained and handed over to the police station.
The detainees are Zainal Abedin, 15, and Shipan, 15, the tenants of Khokon's house in the Bank Colony area of Savar town area, and Sohan, 17, son of Babu of the town area.
According to witnesses, four suspected thieves were detained and beaten by locals in the morning. When they were taken to Savar Upazila Health Complex, doctors declared one of them dead. The other three were handed over to the Savar Model police station.
Savar Model police station Officer-in-Charge (OC) Atiqur Rahman confirmed that one person had died in the mob beating.
He also said that the three other detainees are in police custody, and legal action is being processed.
