Seven people were reported shot in Jatrabari’s Kajla area of the capital on Sunday.
The incident occurred when unknown assailants suddenly fired at the protesters in Kajla.
The injured individuals are Fazle Rabbi, Billal Hossain, Sabbir, Omar Farooq, Jamal, Shahdat, and Amin.
Nahid Hasan, a protesting student, said that there was a clash with local Awami League leaders around 12pm on Sunday.
"Later, they ran away. Then, several cocktails were blasted near Ananbil Hospital. After that, the shooting started. Several people were shot at this time. We sent them to Salman Hospital and Dhaka Medical College Hospital," he added.
