Dhaka Metropolitan Police (DMP) Additional Commissioner (Crime and Operations) Harunor Rashid recently reflected on his work with the Detective Branch (DB) and outlined his future objectives as he transitions to the DMP’s Crime and Operations Division.
In a farewell address at the DB office on Minto Road, Dhaka, Harun detailed the DB's thorough investigations into high-profile cases and major incidents on Thursday.
He assured that individuals involved in arson, attacks, vandalism, and metro rail assaults related to the quota movement would be identified and brought to justice, following the same meticulous approach that was applied in previous investigations.
Harun emphasized that no innocent individuals were arrested during his tenure, and no influential persons were given leniency.
He remarked: “During my time at the DB, we handled many significant incidents. From the murder of Awami League leader Tipu in Motijheel to the assassination case of MP Anar, we conducted meticulous investigations to uncover the truth. We did not arrest any innocent people, and regardless of the influence of the individuals involved, we ensured that those guilty faced justice.”
He pledged to continue this rigorous approach in handling quota protest cases, targeting both the perpetrators and those who directed the violence.
Harun also highlighted the trust he has built with the public during his time with the DB, noting that people globally view the DB as a reliable entity for resolving issues.
As he takes on his new role, he is committed to ensuring that police stations become trustworthy and efficient places for citizens to seek services, file general diaries (GDs), and pursue legal cases. His goal is to strengthen the role of police stations as dependable institutions for the community.
