At least three people in the capital were killed after being electrocuted in three separate incidents on Monday, due to heavy rain caused by the Cyclone Remal.
The deceased have been identified as Marium, 45, Md Rakib, 25, and Liza Akhter, 15.
The matter was confirmed by Bacchu Mia, in-charge of the Dhaka Medical College Hospital (DMCH) police outpost.
He said concerned police stations have been informed of the deaths.
Marium was electrocuted after touching an electric pole when she was wadding through a road in Khilgaon inundated by last night’s rain.
Locals rushed her to DMCH where doctors declared her dead.
Md Rakib, who is a battery-run autorickshaw driver, was electrocuted when he put his vehicle’s battery on charge at a garage in Khilgaon’s Taltola area.
He was taken to DMCH, where doctors declared him dead around 11pm.
Liza was electrocuted when she touched a wall made of tin during the Monday night’s rain.
She was taken to DMCH around 10pm. However, she died after reaching the hospital.
