Students and their guardians of Viqarunnisa Noon School and College have demanded exemplary punishment and the permanent dismissal of Murad Hossain Sarkar, a mathematics teacher at the institution's Azimpur branch.

They made the demand during a demonstration in front of the school's Azimpur branch on Pilkhana Road in Lalbagh on Sunday afternoon.

During the protest rally, students chanted slogans like "We want dismissal, not transfer, we demand punishment for Murad Hossain," and displayed various placards.

At the protest rally, students alleged that Murad Hossain had been sexually harassing their classmates for years. They did not speak up due to fear. They demand his removal for a safe school environment.

Parents of some students expressed concerns about their children's safety with teacher Murad Hossain, demanding his immediate dismissal and legal action. Despite their concerns, he was transferred to the main branch instead. They insist on exemplary punishment for him.

A former student, wishing to remain anonymous, said: "Murad Hossen Sarkar targeted one or two students in every batch. In coaching, he would keep the targeted students behind under various excuses and sexually harass them. Many were too afraid to speak up. We demand exemplary punishment for Murad Hossain Sarkar."

At one point during the protest program, the acting vice principal of the Azimpur branch (day section), Shabnaz Sultana Kamal, appeared. She said to students that: “The school has agreed to your demands. Murad Hossain is now assigned to the principal's office, and he will face legal actions later.”

Shabnaz Sultana Kamal told the journalists, "The school authority has informed me in a letter that, upon finding preliminary truth in the allegations against Murad Hossain and to maintain a peaceful environment in the school, he has been transferred from this branch to the principal's office."

In response to a question, she said: "We took the complaints seriously as soon as we received them. We have spoken sincerely with the victims and their parents."
