The second day of the much-anticipated Amar Ekushey Book Fair 2024 witnessed an influx of joyful children, setting a lively atmosphere at the fairgrounds.
As in previous years, children brimmed with excitement from the outset of this year's event, contributing to a remarkable turnout at the dedicated children's area.
Highlighting the day's festivities was the inaugural Shishu Prihor, which took place amidst fanfare on the fair's second day. At 11:15 am, the Sisimpur stage was officially opened in the children's area, captivating young hearts with performances by beloved characters Halum, Tuktuki, Shiku, and Ikri.
Despite a less crowded afternoon, the children's area remained abuzz with activity and enjoyment, boasting a variety of book stalls featuring titles such as "Chotoder Boi," "Ghashforing," "Fuler Jhuri," "Shishur Pora," "Jhilmil," and "Shishu Kanan."
Numerous families were spotted exploring the fairgrounds, with children eagerly perusing book stalls while others engaged in playful activities. Among the attendees were three sisters—Subah, Saba, and Sophia—attired in yellow dresses, immersed in animated discussions about their book purchases.
Subah shared her experience, saying: "I arrived at the book fair earlier with my mother. Although I missed the morning Sisimpur event, I managed to purchase some captivating storybooks."
Expressing her delight, Sophia said: "Today has been truly enjoyable. I've acquired numerous storybooks, including my favourite Cinderella tale."
Vendors in the children's area expressed satisfaction with the day's sales, signalling optimism for this year's fair compared to the previous one. Moreover, strict security measures were diligently enforced throughout the fairgrounds, ensuring a safe and enjoyable experience for all attendees.
