Former Chhatra Moitree president Bappaditya Basu arrested

Members of the Rapid Action Battalion (RAB) have arrested former Bangladesh Chhatra Moitree president Bappaditya Basu, who was also convicted in a loan case.

Bappaditya Basu has also an active presence on social media.

RAB-10 Deputy Director (Operation Officer) Aminul Islam confirmed the matter to Dhaka Tribune on Wednesday.

Being tipped- off, a team of RAB-10 raided the Dhaka New Market area on Tuesday afternoon and arrested Bappaditya.

This former student leader was sentenced to three years and fined Tk5,000 in a loan case.  He was on the run for a long time to avoid arrest.

RAB official Aminul said that during the preliminary interrogation, the convicted Bappaditya has admitted to being absconding in multiple money loan cases.

He also said that he was hiding in different areas of the country including the capital since the cases were registered.

This RAB officer also said that he had been handed over to Jessore Kotwali police station.
