Miscreants set fire to a bus operated by Savar Paribahan with passengers on board, in front of Bahadur Shah Park in Old Dhaka.
The incident occurred on the road between Bahadur Shah Park and Kabi Nazrul Government College at around 12pm on Wednesday.
Bus driver Russell Mia said that the bus was en route to Sadarghat with passengers from Savar. Upon reaching Kabi Nazrul College, the bus came to a stop to let passengers disembark. Suddenly, passengers raised an alarm about a fire, prompting a swift evacuation. Nearby individuals took immediate action to extinguish the fire using water.
Responding to the incident, a team of police, Ansar, and RAB arrived at the scene after receiving the news.
Sutrapur police station Officer-in-charge (OC) Md Mamun said: "We arrived at the scene upon receiving the news. Local residents successfully extinguished the fire. Details would be provided following investigation."
