Two injured in crude bomb blasts in Farmgate

Two white-collar workers riding their motorbikes home after work sustained injuries, as miscreants exploded two crude bombs in the capital's Farmgate area on Saturday evening.

The incident took place in front of Farmview Supermarket around 7:15pm on Saturday. 

The injured were identified as Md Emdadul Haque Khan, 56, a joint director of Bangladesh Bank, and Md Nazmus Shahadat Pratik, 38, manager of Summit Well N Shipping. They are uncle and nephews in relation.  

Shahadat was riding a motorcycle and his uncle Imdad was sitting behind him while returning home in Mohammadpur from the Kawran Bazar area in the evening. They were injured in a Splendor cocktail by miscreants in the Farmgate area.

Later they were rescued from there and first taken to Farmgate Al Raji Hospital and then brought to Dhaka Medical College and Hospital (DMCH) for better treatment at around 9pm.

Inspector Bachchu Mia, in charge of DMCH police outpost, said: “The injured are undergoing treatment in the emergency department.”

Emdadul Haque was injured by a splinter on his right hand and forehead and Nazmus Shahadat was injured by a splinter on his right hand and chest.

However, they could not identify anyone in this sabotage attack.
