A BRTC double-decker bus broke down and became stuck under the metro rail at Bijoy Sarani area in Tejgaon, causing significant traffic disruptions on Wednesday morning.
The breakdown resulted in an hourlong traffic stoppage, leading to long jams in the area and causing inconvenience to commuters.
Deputy commissioner (DC) of DMP traffic department's Tejgaon division Mushtaq Ahmed said: "The BRTC bus hit a metro rail pillar while attempting a U-turn. At that point, the bus was blocking the road, leading to a traffic jam."
He added that the traffic department's personnel reached the site upon receiving the news. After about an hour of efforts, the bus was successfully removed, and normal traffic flow resumed after 9am.
