On the second day of the 48-hour hartal called by the BNP, leaders and activists including Senior Joint Secretary General Ruhul Kabir Rizvi staged a protest march in the capital to press home their demand for the resignation of the government.
The leaders and activists were seen picketing in Kawran Bazar area and Dayaganj intersection on Monday morning.
Ruhul Kabir Rizvi said: “The movement has reached the final stage of success. Darkness surrounds the government from all directions. The illegal government has lost its ability to rule.”
He added that without an impartial, nonpartisan government, the people of Bangladesh would not permit any elections. The government would have to step down soon.
Along with Central BNP Health Secretary Dr Rafiqul Islam, former councilor Nilufar Yasmin Nilu, Joint General Secretary of the Chhatra Dal central committee Dr Awal, former co-organizing secretary of the Jubo Dal central committee Sohail Rana, Senior Joint Convener of Eden Mahila College Chhatra Dal Syeda Sumaiya Parveen, Co-Cultural Secretary of Central Chhatra Dal Jannatul Naureen Urmi, and others, were also present at the protest.
