The Detective Branch of police reportedly picked up BNP Vice Chairman Shamsuzzaman Dudu from the Dhaka Cantonment’s post office area in the early hours of Monday.
Dudu’s brother, Advocate Wahiduzzaman, said a team of detectives raided his sister's house in the area at around 12:15am and detained Dudu there.
He said the police also picked up his nephew Hasnat Ashraf Robin from there.
Wahid claimed that Robin did not have any involvement with politics.
Earlier on Sunday, law enforcement also arrested the BNP’s two other vice chairmen, Altaf Hossain Chowdhury and Shahjahan Omar, in the capital.
