Four injured as gas cylinder blasts in Mirpur restaurant

  • Two in critical condition

Four people were injured in an explosion while repairing a gas cylinder in the freezing room of a fast food restaurant BFC in Dhaka’s Mirpur-13. 

The incident took place at around 3:30pm on Saturday. 

The injured were identified as Jaminur Rahman, 45, brother of the owner of BFC, Russell Miji, 42, Ratan, 35, and Firoz Hawlader, 32, 

They were taken to Dhaka Medical College Hospital (DMCH) in the evening, said Inspector Bacchu Mia, in-charge of DMCH police outpost.

He said the injured have bruises on various parts of their bodies. They are undergoing treatment. Two of them are in critical condition.

One of the injured, Firoz said they are employees of Genitouring Engineering Company in Kuril and were called into the restaurant to fix a defect inside its freezing room. 

The gas cylinder exploded while working, he added.
