The Fire Service and Civil Defence has said that a total of 22 fire incidents were reported to them on Saturday, amid the Awami League and BNP rallies in Dhaka.
Among them, the fire service members doused the blaze at 12 spots. The rest were doused by locals or police.
Meanwhile, a fire truck was torched in Dhaka’s Shahjahanpur area at around 5pm on Saturday.
Shajahan Shikder, officer-in-charge (media) of the Fire Service Civil Defence said some miscreants also attacked Ariful Islam, senior station officer of Khilgaon fire station, and Shariful Islam, the driver of the same station.
Amid the rallies of the ruling Awami League and opposition BNP and Jamaat, several vehicles have been torched and vandalized in Dhaka’s Kamalapur and Kakrail on Saturday.
