The police are on high alert and conducting searches on incoming vehicles in Aminbazar as Dhaka braces for rallies by the ruling Awami League and the opposition BNP on Saturday.
There were police checkposts on the Dhaka-Aricha highway in front of the Aminbazar 20-bed Hospital as well as in Savar’s Birulia and Ashulia Bazar areas.
Officers were stopping and searching buses, cars, microbuses and motorcycles and questioning their drivers and passengers, but no arrests had been made as of the submission of this report.
Savar model police station Inspector Abdur Rashid said these measures aimed to prevent potential troublemakers from entering Dhaka and causing chaos during the political rallies, emphasizing that these actions were for the public's benefit.
