Three children aged between 12 and 13 lost their lives in Mohakhali's Amtoli area when they were struck by an oncoming train.
The identities of the young victims remain unknown at this time, Airport police outpost In-Charge Shri Sunil Chandra Sutradhar told Dhaka Tribune.
The accident occurred as the children were enroute from Mohakhali to the Sainik Club area.
At approximately 6:30am, the Jamalpur-bound Dewanganj Express train, departing from Kamalapur Railway Station, hit them.
Upon receiving the news, railway police promptly arrived at the scene and recovered the bodies of the children.
Each child was identified by their clothing: one wore a checked shirt with black shorts, another was dressed in a t-shirt and black trousers, and the third child was in a blue shirt paired with denim.
The bodies of the deceased have been sent to Dhaka Medical College Hospital for autopsy.
