Awami League's Presidium Member Jahangir Kabir Nanak on Sunday called on the Krishi Market businessmen to find out the reason behind the fire.

He asked them to form a probe committee along with the one formed by the government.

“Find how the fire broke out in the Mohammadpur Krishi market. What the weak points were,” he said while visiting the fire-damaged Krishi Market in the capital’s Mohammadpur area.

The former member of parliament from Dhaka-13 constituency assured to stand by the affected businessmen. “Everything possible will be done in cooperation with the victims of the fire.”

Regarding the rehabilitation of the traders, he said that those who had shops would receive allotments. “Compensation and rehabilitation of traders will be discussed when the prime minister returns to the country.”

Nanak, later said there is no other way for BNP to survive except by participating in the elections.

Regarding BNP's road march program, Nanak said they have the freedom to conduct any march they desire. He likened the road march to a form of expression resembling a nationwide election.

In the wake of a devastating fire that erupted early Thursday morning, shopkeepers at the Mohammadpur Krishi Market find themselves grappling with the aftermath, desperately searching for any remnants of their once-thriving businesses.

As for the cause of the fire, it remains unknown whether it was sparked by an electrical short circuit. An official investigation will determine the actual cause.
