The Rapid Action Battalion (RAB) has arrested a man in a case filed over the rape of a four-year-old girl in Chapainawabganj.
The arrestee is Kausar Ali, 39, hailing from the Choupukuria area of Nachol upazila of the northern district.
A joint team of RAB-5 and RAB-1 arrested him in Dhaka's Badda on Thursday afternoon, RAB-5 chief Lt Col Riaz Shahriar said at a press on Friday.
Kausar raped the child in his house on August 12, said the RAB officer.
When the incident came to light, Kausar fled the area home. The next day, the rape survivor’s father filed a case at Nachol police station in this connection, he said.
Based on the FIR and media information, RAB-5 launched an investigation into the incident. The location of the accused was traced through intelligence surveillance, the officer told reporters.
RAB-1’s Major Mohammad Masud Haider and RAB-5’s Chapainawabganj camp commander Lt Commander Ruh-fi-Tahmin Tauqir led the operation.
Kawsar's transfer to Nachol police station in Chapainawabganj is under process, said Lt Col Riaz.
