Further details are awaited as authorities investigate the circumstances of the attack.
The alleged attack occurred when Chhatra League leaders and activists chased Gono Odhikar Parishad (partial) President Nurul Haque Nur in Dhaka University (DU) campus.
Nur, also the former VP of Dhaka University Central Students' Union (Ducsu), went to participate in the protest program of Bangladesh Sadharon Chhatra Odhikar Songrokkhon Parishad on Wednesday.
The incident took place when a procession from Shahbagh went in front of Dhaka University's anti-terrorist Raju sculpture on Wednesday afternoon.
Meanwhile, BCL leaders chased Nur and dispersed the procession.
Following the incident, Chhatra League activists were seen taking positions in the TSC acrea and staging a motorbike showdown.
However, Dhaka University Chhatra League General Secretary Tanvir Hasan Saikat has denied the origination's involvement in the attack.
He stated that on Tuesday night, two screenshots went viral of a plan by Jatiyatabadi Chhatra Dal (JCD) to create unrest on campus.
In response, ordinary students formed a human chain, demanding enhanced security from university administration and law enforcement so that outside agitators cannot destabilize the campus environment and disrupt the normal educational atmosphere.
According to Saikat, at that time, Nurul Haq Nur and some outside agitators tried to block the students' human chain program.
The ordinary students resisted them, leading to a chase incident, and there was no involvement of Chhatra League members in the incident, he added.
