Dhaka North City Corporation (DNCC) Mayor Md Atiqul Islam on Sunday said that dengue control will be possible if councillors are in the field with officials as they have direct involvement with the people of their respective ward.
DNCC held a special meeting with the councillors and officials to strengthen mosquito control activities to prevent the ongoing dengue situation. This special meeting was held in the auditorium on the sixth floor of Gulshan-2 Nagar Bhaban on Sunday afternoon.
The task force committee which has been formed under the leadership of the councillors will carry out campaigns along with mosquito eradication activities in their respective areas, said the mayor.
Councillors will distribute the art book printed for students by the city corporation among all kindergarten and primary school students in each ward, he said.
Dhaka TribuneThe mayor said that Aedes larvae are found in buildings under construction. The councillors will write to the owner of the building under construction in their ward, so that water does not accumulate.
Along with that, the list of buildings under construction will be published. According to this list, the Rapid Action Team headed by regional executive officer and executive magistrate will inspect and take legal action, he added.
Advising to increase public awareness on dengue control, the mayor said that councillors will hold meetings with the imams of mosques, school teachers and parents in each area and tell them about the measures to be taken to eradicate mosquitoes. They will also hold meetings with representatives of various societies and engage them in awareness activities to control dengue.
List of houses where there are dengue patients and larviciding should be increased in the adjoining areas, added the mayor Atiq.
