A woman died after being hit by a bus on the Mayor Mohammad Hanif Flyover in Dhaka’s Jatrabari on Saturday night.
The deceased is Mumtahina Priya, 20, who recently got married to a Bangladeshi expatriate living in London.
Sub-Inspector (SI) Mahmuda Rahman of Jatrabari police station said Priya was returning home riding pillion on a friend’s motorcycle and got off the vehicle upon realizing that her burka had almost gotten entangled with the rear wheel.
At that moment, a bus hit her from behind, leaving her dead on the spot, the SI added.
The authorities later handed over the body to her family without performing an autopsy at their request.
Police are trying to find the bus that killed Priya, SI Mahmuda added.
