Two jewellery shops in Karnaphuli Garden City Shopping Complex at Dhaka’s Kakrail were looted by unidentified miscreants in the early hours of Saturday.
The shops - Mohona Jewellers and Jewel Avenue Jewellers – are on the third floor of the shopping mall.
The robbers, who made away with a large amount of gold jewelleries, had cut through the locks before breaking and entering into the shops.
Ramna police OC Monirul Islam said a case would be filed after the shop owners figure out what have been looted and their worth.
Dhaka Metropolitan Police’s Ramna Division Deputy Commissioner Sajjadur Rahman said the shops’ employees found out about the robbery after opening the shops in the morning.
Police were collecting CCTV camera footages and evidence from the crime scene.
The officials said they were hopeful of bringing the perpetrators to book soon.
