A woman and her 2-year-old son were killed when a train rammed into their car at a level crossing in Dhaka on Thursday.
Twenty-six-year-old Mahmuda Akter Mitu and her son Faiz Ahmed died immediately in the crash at a level-crossing in the capital’s Dakshinkhan early in morning.
The Dhaka-bound Nilsagar Express crashed into the vehicle around 5am, Sub-inspector Nur Mohammad of Dhaka Railway police station told the media.
Mitu’s husband Md Hasan, who was behind the wheel, and the couple’s two daughters sustained injuries in the accident. Later, locals rescued the three and rushed them to a hospital in Tongi.
The microbus could get on the track as the level-crossing’s gate was open, media reports quoted a local resident as saying.
