Eight Export Processing Zones (EPZs) of the country have been brought under the Covid-19 vaccination program with the launch of the initiative at Uttara EPZ.
Uttara EPZ General Manager Naheed Munshi and the civil surgeon of Nilphamari district officially inaugurated the program on Monday.
On the first day, 5,000 workers of three factories were vaccinated. The remaining workers of 21 factories will be inoculated by Wednesday.
Comilla EPZ was the first to start the vaccination program on August 18.
The Bangladesh Export Processing Zones Authority (BEPZA) is working to ensure 100% vaccination at EPZs in order to maintain production and ensure workers remain safe from the virus.
A total of 500,000 workers at the EPZs are going to receive the vaccine as per the initial proposal to the Prime Minister’s Office.
Later, BEPZA will continue its efforts to bring all workers of the EPZs under vaccination with the help of the district administrations and civil surgeons’ offices.
