A huge program was held in Dhaka on Tuesday to mark the 78th anniversary of the Victory in the Great Patriotic War with support of the Association of Russian Compatriots in Bangladesh Rodina (Motherland) and Russian House in Dhaka.
Courtesy After memorial action participants moved through Mirpur Road to New Market in a way of a big auto rally of over 50 cars and motorcycles bearing black-orange St. George ribbons. Replicas of Flags of Victory in 1945 and Soviet Union were also present, said a press release on Wednesday.
Courtesy Alexander V Mantytskiy, ambassador extraordinary and plenipotentiary of the Russian Federation to the People's Republic of Bangladesh, greeted the attendees and emphasized the importance of preserving the memory of the feat of our forebears and the decisive role of the USSR in the victory over Nazism.
Courtesy Members of Soviet Alumni Association Bangladesh (SAAB) and CIS-Bangladesh Chamber of commerce, students of Stamford University, Russian Embassy staff and lots of Bangladeshi actively participated in this event widely covered by local media.
Everyone also lit the Candle of Memory.
The festivities ended by the great reception given at Russian diplomatic mission on this occasion.
