Dhaka division is home to the highest population in Bangladesh, whereas the Barisal division has the smallest population.
A division-wise population review shows that the calculated population of Dhaka is 44,215,107.
The adjusted population is 45,643,915 which is 26.88% of the total adjusted population.
The total population of the Barisal division is 9,325,818 people. Barisal has an adjusted population rate of 5.49%.
Bangladesh Bureau of Statistics (BBS) released this information according to the preliminary report of the Population and Housing Census 2022.
Planning Minister MA Mannan was present at the press conference.
The BBS conducted the country's first digital census and household census from June 15 to 21 last year.
Some 34,178,581 people live in Chittagong, 17,813,957 in Khulna, and 12,637,524 in Mymensingh.
The total population of Bangladesh now stands at 169.8 million.
It is said that 4,670,295 people have been added to the PEC (Post Enumeration Check) and the adjusted total population of the country stands at 169,828,911 people.
Among the total population, 68.34% lives in villages and 31.66% in cities.
