The decision of filing a case against the individuals responsible for the vandalism at the Fire Service headquarter during the Bangabazar fire will be made after investigation.

"Our invstigation is still ongoing. We will make a decision regarding whether or not to file a case once the investigation is over. If a decision is made, it will be informed,” Deputy Assistant Director (Media) Md Shahjahan Sikder said on Wednesday.

In this regard, Bangshal police station Officer-in-Charge (OC) Md Mojibur Rahman said: "We are aware of the matter. The legal process is ongoing in this regard.”

On Tuesday, angry mobs ransacked the Fire Service and Civil Defense headquarters hours after the fire broke out in Bangabazar in Old Dhaka. At least 11 cars inside the office were damaged by the bricks and stones thrown by the angry crowd. At this time, some firemen were also beaten.

Businessmen complained about this and said that the main office of the fire service is located on the opposite side of the accident site. But our complaint is the irresponsibility of the fire service even though the team came on time. They first did not take the fire seriously. That is why such a severe accident took place.

Businessmen also expressed their dissatisfaction about the fire service pump's lack of water. They asserted that they had no part in the attack, nevertheless.

The affected businessman Hossain said: "There is a fire at 6am in the morning. When we called the Fire Service department, they come with fire extinguishers to douse the fire. They were told to bring a water truck after the fire was not extinguished. They said they had not received orders from above to bring the truck.”

“Later they brought water, which had no speed. The main office of the fire service of the whole country is here, and there is no water in their pumps," he added further.
