A Dhaka court has scrapped the plea of 24 leaders and activists of the Dhaka University unit of Chhatra Odhikar Parishad for bail in a case lodged over assault and attempt to murder.
Dhaka Metropolitan Magistrate Mahbub Ahmed passed the order after holding a hearing on the plea on Tuesday, defence counsel Advocate Khademul Islam told BSS.
The accused include the organization's Dhaka University wing President Akter Hossain, General Gecretary Akram Hossain, Md Saddam Hossain, Md Taslim Hossain Ovee, Abdul Qader, Md Torikul Islam, Mamunur Rashid, Nazmul Hasan, Rakib, Ariful Islam and Asif Mahmud.
They are accused of assaulting some students of Dhaka University and attempting to murder them on October 7.
Chhatra League Organizing Secretary Nazim Uddin filed the case at Shahbagh police station on October 8.
