A total of nine people have been arrested over the deaths of five victims who were crushed in their car when a Bus Rapid Transit (BRT) girder fell on it in the capital's Uttara area on Monday.
Members of Rapid Action Battalion (RAB) arrested them from Dhaka, Gazipur, Sirajganj and Bagerhat.
RAB spokesperson Khandaker Al Moin confirmed the matter to Bangla Tribune on Wednesday night.
He said that a case has been filed against them in Uttara West police station. “Their arrest will be shown in that case.”
The arrestees include the crane driver, the driver's assistant, the contractor's security personnel and six others.
On Monday, at least five people, including children, of the same family were killed when a 150-tonne girder fell on their car from a crane during BRT project work in Uttara.
