Another crane accident leaves 5 injured in Dhaka

The condition of two of the injured is serious as they suffered head and neck injuries, says DMCH doctor

A total of five people were injured when a rod fell down from a crane in an under-construction multi-storied building in the capital's Gulistan on Monday. 

Md Bachchu Mia, in-charge inspector Dhaka Medical College Hospital (DMCH) police outpost, confirmed the matter to Bangla Tribune. 

He said the injured are being treated in the emergency department of DMCH.

The injured are Shahabuddin, 40, Zakir Hossain, 35, Rezaul Karim, 40, Jahangir Hossain, 45, and Shobuj, 45.

Quoting the doctor, Bachchu Mia said that the condition of two of the injured is serious as they suffered head and neck injuries. 

“The rest are safe. Among the injured were three sidewalk hawkers and two pedestrians,” he added.

Meanwhile, at least five people, including children, of the same family were killed when a girder fell on their car from a crane during Bus Rapid Transit (BRT) project work in Uttara of the capital on Monday. 

A probe committee was formed in this incident.
