He worked at a clothing store in New Market and lived with his wife Oni Akter and daughters Sumaiya Islam Lamha, 7, and Amir Hamza, 4, in a rented home in Kamrangirchar.

Earlier, on Tuesday night, twenty-year-old Nahid Hossain, who worked for a delivery service, died at the hospital after being injured while passing through the area during the clashes.

He fell on the footpath as a brick hit his head and was beaten up by some people. However, Dhaka College students on Wednesday claimed that the hawkers had killed him during the clashes.

Two others seriously injured in the skirmishes – shop worker Mohammad Yasin, 18, and Dhaka Colege student Md Kakon Chowdhury, 20 – are currently receiving treatment at DMCH while another student named Mosharraf Hossain was admitted to Square Hospital with critical injuries. The prime minister has taken responsibility for the treatment of Kakon and Mosharraf.

Although minor clashes between students and traders in the New Market area are not uncommon, the situation took a much worse turn this time around, with many injuries on either side and two deaths.

At least 50 people including journalists and police were injured during the clashes that began on Monday night.
