The hanging body of a woman was recovered from an apartment in the capital on Friday.
Police identified the body as Jannatul Nawrin Esha, 22, the daughter of notorious killer Ershad Sikder.
Law enforcers recovered the body from a flat on the ninth floor of Subasto Tower in Gulshan at around 5:30pm.
Jannatul's mother alleged that her daughter had committed suicide while on a video call with her boyfriend named Plabon Ghosh.
She had been in a romantic affair with the man for the past eight months. On Thursday night, they engaged in a brawl, the mother claimed. Jannatul came home late in the night and locked herself in her room.
After getting no response from Jannatul, her mother called the security guard and broke open the door. They found Jannatul hanging from the ceiling fan.
She was immediately taken to the emergency unit of Dhaka Medical College Hospital (DMCH) where the duty doctor declared her dead.
Bachhu Mia, the DMCH police outpost in-charge, said that the body had been kept at the morgue for an autopsy.
Serial killer Ershad Sikder was hanged in 2004 for murder charges in Khulna.
