The identities of two female workers out of three killed in a footwear factory fire at Ashulia on the outskirts of the city have so far been confirmed.
The two deceased were identified as Sumaya, 12, daughter of Imarat Hossen from Tangail and Shahanara Begum, 45, wife of Abdul Hamid hailing from Khulna.
Savar Upazila Nirbahi Officer (UNO) Mazharul Islam said the deceased's family members will get Tk 25,000 each for burial the bodies after confirming their identities.
The local public representatives have been asked to submit update reports on the fire fighting measures taken by each of the factories in their respective areas, he said.
"Two female workers died of suffocation inside the toilet and the other male worker was severely burnt to death during the shoe factory fire incident," said Deputy Assistant Director of the Fire Service Department of Dhaka-4, Abdul Alim.
The official said the identity of the burnt worker was not confirmed.
Of the three fire victims, bodies of two were sent to the capital for autopsy, said Ziaul Islam, officer-in-charge (OC) of Ashulia Police Station.
The devastating fire took place at Uni World Wear Limited at Gauripur in Ashulia on Wednesday afternoon.
The cause of the fire was yet to be confirmed.
