DNCC to open hospitals for animals, trees in Mirpur

Animals have the right to coexist with humans in Dhaka, says Mayor Atiqul Islam

Update : 05 Oct 2021, 04:52 PM

Dhaka North City Corporation will set up two hospitals — one for animals and another for trees — in Mirpur, Mayor Atiqul Islam has announced.

The lands required will be handed over to the officials concerned within a few days, Atiqul said on Monday.

On the occasion of World Animal Day, the DNCC mayor also asked everyone to be sympathetic towards animals and trees.

Animals have the right to coexist with humans in Dhaka and it is everyone’s duty to take care of them, he said.

The People for Animal Welfare (PAW) Foundation shared a post on Facebook praising the mayor’s decision.

Mayor Atiqul is often praised for his involvement in and contribution to the animal welfare movement. He was honoured with the “Pranobik Bondhu” award by the PAW Foundation in recognition of his enduring love for animals on World Animal Day.
