A woman died in a fire triggered by a cooking gas cylinder leakage in their house in Dhaka's South Keraniganj Saturday afternoon.
The deceased was identified as Shabana, 40, a mother of four.
South Keraniganj police station Assistant Sub-Inspector (ASI) Nobi Hossain said: “The victim, Shabana, was home alone when the fire broke out,”
A neighbour spotted the incident from an adjacent window and immediately informed others. But by the time they broke into the house, she was already burnt to death, the officer said.
The body was handed over to Shahidul Islam, the brother of the victim without an autopsy as there were no official complaints from the family, confirmed Abul Kalam Azad, officer-in-charge (OC) of the same police station.
