Dhaka University (DU) authorities suspended three officials and terminated one, including two engineers on Wednesday over charges of irregularities, corruption, and violating office discipline.
The DU syndicate, the highest governing body of the university, came up with this decision, said a press release on Thursday.
Two engineers - Lutfar Rahman, supervising engineer (Power Zone-1) under Chief Engineer's Office, and Khaledur Rahman Chowdhury, executive engineer (Power) - and and an official, Mohammad Abdul Hai, assistant director (Administration) of the same office, were suspended over the charge of irregularities in buying instrument and conducting anti disciplinary activities
Meanwhile, Zakir Hossain, the demonstrator (contractual) of the Music department was terminated.
The DU Syndicate decided to serve a show cause notice to the suspended saying why the three people should not be terminated from the job, it added.
A five-member probe committee headed by the university's Pro vice-chancellor (administration) was formed to investigate the allegations against the accused, the press release said.
The meeting was held headed by DU vice-chancellor Prof M Akhtaruzzaman at the Nabab Nawab Ali Chowdhury senate building.
