Dhaka University Vice-Chancellor (VC) M Akhtaruzzaman has said students will not be attached to the Salimullah Muslim Hall this year as a crack was found inside the hall verandahs.
The DU VC made the remarks while inspecting the hall on Thursday afternoon.
He also said that the authorities will lower the allotment from next year and the university authorities have plans to make this hall suitable for visitors as it is a heritage site.
The students who are staying in verandahs will be allocated to the rooms soon, he furthered.
Akhtaruzzaman along with Proctor Professor AKM Golam Rabbani, General Secretary of University Teachers Association Nizamul Haque Bhuiyan and Hall Provosts visited the hall.
Earlier the Salimullah Muslim Hall administration issued a statement that read, cracks have appeared in the verandas of the south and west block of the hall. So it is very risky to keep any kind of heavy furniture including beds.
Concerned students have been instructed to remove their belongings kept in the verandah by October 7.
