DU to expel two students for digital forgery

72 other students have also been punished by the authorities

The Dhaka University authorities have decided to expel two students enrolled in 2017-18 academic session for committing digital forgery and taking help of illegal means in the admission test. 

The decision came at a meeting of the DU Disciplinary Council on Monday with DU Vice Chancellor Prof Md Akhtaruzzaman in the chair, said a press release.

The duo are Rakib Hasan of Accounting and Information Systems Department and Ishraq Hossain Rafi of Geology Department.

The expulsion will be approved at the next Syndicate meeting, the handout added.

In addition, 72 students have been punished for different terms for resorting to unfair means during exams.

The Disciplinary Council also decided to suspend a student of the Bangla department of 2014-15 academic year, Md Akhtarul Karim Rubel, while giving him the scope to defend himself why he should not be expelled. A show cause notice will be served in this regard, the press release added.

In January last year, the DU authorities expelled 63 students who had been admitted to university through fraudulent means. In February, seven more students were expelled on the same ground.
