Additional Deputy Inspector General Sheikh Omar Faruque, who was in-charge of the CID’s Dhaka metropolitan north unit, had been supervising the recent cases filed against actor Pori Moni, models Piasha and Mou, and politician Helena Jahangir.

The Home Ministry’s Public Security Division issued a gazette notification in this regard on Thursday.

The Home Ministry notification said that they have been sent on retirement as per the provisions of Section 45 of Government Service 2018 (Act No 57 of 2018) upon completion of 25 years of government service and will be entitled for all retirement benefits as per the rule.

Sheikh Omar Faruque, 58, joined the Bangladesh Police in 1991 as a Bangladesh Civil Service cadre of the 12th batch.

The order came a day after the High Court criticized the lower courts for allowing police remand of actor Pori Moni multiple times, defying its directives in this regard.
