Members of Rapid Action Battalion (RAB)-3 have arrested four members, including a woman, of a human trafficking ring by conducting raids in Demra, Keraniganj and Manikganj areas in Dhaka.
The arrestees were identified as Shankar Bishwas, 25, Sheikh Hanif Mia, 28, Mohammad Jewel Hossain, 29, and Mosammat Shamima Akter, 21.
RAB also seized mobiles and computers from them.
Additional Superintendent of Police Beena Rani Das, also the assistant director (Media) of RAB-3, confirmed the matter and said that the accused were arrested on Sunday during separate drives.
The RAB official also said that the insolvent women were offered handsome salaried jobs in Dubai by the gang.
After reaching there, their passports were taken away and they were forced to participate in illegal activities, she added.
The RAB official further said that the operation was carried out when the mother of the woman detainee came to the RAB-3 office and complained.
"RAB is working to bring the ringleader to the country, as he is currently in Dubai. He will be then brought under the law."
A case was filed under the Human Trafficking Act with the Paltan police station in Dhaka in this regard.
RAB has handed over the arrestees to the police.
