It took six firefighting units almost an hour to completely douse the fire at around 11:55am, said Ershad Hossain, an official of the Fire Service and Civil Defense control room.
The workshops that got gutted in the fire are: Rahman Motors, Sohail Motors, Arif Motors, Gazi Motors, Chittagong Motors, and New Janani Motors, Assistant Director of Fire Service Bazlur Rashid told Dhaka Tribune.
He said that two Silk Line Travels buses were completely gutted in the fire adding that a large number of batteries, used for motor vehicles, stored in the garages were also burnt in the fire.
However, no casualty was reported.
The origin of the fire could not be known yet but the Fire Service is primarily suspecting that it originated from an electric short circuit.
