The Dhaka South City Corporation (DSCC) engineering department has declared the three-storey building that was wrecked in Sunday’s deadly explosion in Moghbazar as “risky.”
Assistant Engineer (area 1) at DSCC Md Ahsan Habib on Tuesday said: "We have decided to declare the building as risky following the recommendation of a DSCC committee led by our chief engineer.”
The city corporation will send a letter to the owner of the building in this regard soon.

“We will provide instructions on how quickly and safely the owner can start demolishing the establishment,” he added.
If the owner does not or is unable to follow the DSCC instructions, then the city corporation will take charge of the demolition.
“The damaged building has become a hazard for nearby establishments, so it must be demolished.”
Meanwhile, police have filed a case against several unidentified people for causing death by negligence that led to the Moghbazar blast, Ramna Model Police Station OC Monirul Islam told Dhaka Tribune.

He said the case was lodged around 12:10am Tuesday by Sub-Inspector (SI) Rezzaul Karim under Section 304(A) of the Penal Code.
As of Tuesday, investigators are yet to make any breakthrough in identifying the cause of the massive explosion.
Multiple agencies have so far visited the scene along with the Fire Service, but the cause of the explosion remains a mystery.
Seven people were killed and more than 50 others injured after the powerful explosion ripped through the building near Moghbazar Wireless Gate on Sunday evening.
