Teen passenger gets killed as buses race in Dhaka

The two vehicles have been seized but the drivers are on the run, say police

A bus passenger was killed in a bus collision in the capital's Malibagh on Monday. 

The deceased was identified as a student named Mehedi Hasan, 19, son of Anisur Rahman of Sonadanga upazila of Khulna district.

Police have seized the two buses, according to Hatirjheel police Sub-Inspector (SI) Md Shahjahan.

He said when two Uttara-bound passenger buses were racing near Malibagh area a passenger of a Turag Paribahan bus peered out of the bus when the other bus of Akash Paribahan hit him.

The passenger Mehedi Hasan died on the spot.

“We have seized the two buses. The driver is on the run and the police are trying to identify and detain them,” said the SI.

The police official said that the relatives of the deceased had been informed.

After the legal process is complete, the body will be sent to Dhaka Medical College Hospital morgue for autopsy.
