Annisul apologises

Dhaka North City Corporation (DNCC) Mayor Annisul Huq apologised on Saturday for his previous comments on the DNCC’s role in controlling the chikungunya epidemic. He made the apology before starting an awareness procession in Gulshan 2 on Saturday. Mayor Annisul apologised for his earlier remarks and said, “I wanted to say that since we do not have permission to enter every household, we cannot possibly spray insecticides inside each of them,” “For this reason, we urge every city resident to keep his/her house clean and clear of mosquitoes, since they can still persist inside households after the locality has been sprayed with insecticides,” he said.PM asks Annisul to sit with ministers to fight chikungunyaPrime Minister Sheikh Hasina asked the DNCC mayor and Engr Mosharraf Hossain, the minister of housing and public works, to meet and discuss the control and spread of chikungunya inside the capital. The meeting will be held on Sunday in DNCC Nagar Bhaban. The mayor will preside over the meeting. The Minister of Local Government and Rural Development Khandaker Mosharraf Hossain, the Minister of Water Resources Anisul Islam Mahmud and MP AKM Rahmatullah will also be present as special guests.
