Lawmaker Haji Salim has demolished his own establishments, constructed illegally on the bank of Buriganga River, at Swarighat Ghat area in Dhaka.
The Dhaka 7 MP demolished the establishment on Saturday from a land, where he earlier put a signboard of Madina Water Tank, beside the Swarighat landing station.
The incident took place an hour before a scheduled drive of Bangladesh Inland Water Transport Authority (BIWTA) to evict the land grabbers and free government land on the bank of the river.
A security guard of the establishment said the structure was used as a warehouse by the lawmaker.
BIWTA has been conducting a drive since mid-November to reclaim government land from illegal occupants.
Earlier in November, BIWTA reclaimed 4.5 acres of government land allegedly grabbed by the parliamentarian.
In February 2019, three structures including a four storied building owned by Haji Salim were demolished by Bangladesh Water Development Board during a crackdown against encroachers.
